Ian Tyrer Award 2010- Shire of Plantagenet
The 2010 award was presented at the Qantas Wine Show lunch at Plantagent wines on Friday 8th Oct to the Shire of Plantagenet. The Shire has supported the Mount Barker Wine Industry over many years with finianicial support and attending events and promoting the Mount Barker Area. The Mount Barker Wine producers look forward to continual support in the future as together they work to promote the area. Ken Clement, the Shire President , accepted the award saying that it was nice to be recognozied for their support rather than always being expected to support as the Shire. He also spoke of fond memories of time spent with Ian Tyrer and look forward to opening the large six litre bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. |

The Ian Tyrer Award 2008 went to the Qantas Wine Show Mount Barker marking their 30 anniversary. Beginning in 1978 as part of the Mount Barker Agricultural Show, the
Wine Show of Western Australia has grown to become a separate and
distinguished event which annually determines the best of Western
Australian wines. From only six classes in 1978, the show now includes
over 41 classes and 17 trophies including the prestigious Qantas Award
for Best Wine of Show.
The Ian Tyrer Award 2006 went to Visy for the outstanding contribution to the Mount Barker Wine Producer through their product and business services and for their support through sponsorship. Visy continuely support our events through cash sponsorship and add valuable contribution to the Mount Barker Wine Producers
This is the 3rd Ian Tyrer award. Set up in the spirit of the George Mulgure Award which was awarded to Ian in 2003. The award was set up to reward those that have help, supported and promoted the Mount Barker Wine Industry.
