Our Busy End to October

For those that know us, knows we are busy people. And October was no different. So here are a few of the things we did towards the end of October.

We Built a shed! This is the start of our new spray shed. We brought the shed 2 years ago and Nigel has been meaning to put it up. In the end we just paid someone to do it. But it is looking good. Still lots of work to do though? Tank, doors, fill etc

We planted a nursery. These are our left over Cab Sauv cuttings. It is good to plant them in a nursery incase you need replacement plants.

We watched our Cab Sauv grow with eagle eyes. To say we are excited about our new plantings is an understatement. We are often out looking and taking photo's of it's progress. Stay tuned for more of that!

We attended the Cambinata Yabbies Gala Dinner. Every year we go and have been going for about 8 years now. We love it! and they love our wine. Great food and showcasing the region. Our wines are always a hit.

Barramundi, Yabby and Pomegranate. Yummo

Petite Forte and Macaroons- I ate about 4 of those- whoops

We went to Perth and did a tasting with Mondo Butchers and Vince. Always great fun and tasty pork too!

We found an usual coin in the vineyard? Either it fell out of one of our backpackers pocket .....or our vines roots really do go all the way to Asia!

We've enjoyed the rain! After two dry years the rains have been excellent. Growth in the vineyard has already exceeded last year and it's only October.

And then the Rains really came! Scary!! as it thundered down we new there was a high chance of hail. We were very nervouse because would be devastating. Unfortunately our neighbours in Frankland and Pemberton were hit reporting a 30% loss. We were VERY LUCKY ( touch wood)

A stop at a one day workshop with AWRI. This is an annual event and well worth attending. Learnt lots and it is always good to see the East Coast boys come to WA to put this on!

Then we attended the opening of the new Due South Tavern in Albany. A great new and huge pub right on the foreshore of Albany. And yes they sell our wines too.

And then finally worked on our Anzac project. There is a big weekend coming up in Albany celebrating 100 year anniversary of Anzac. Lots of people are getting in the spirit with window displays and poppies displays at local business. So we thought we do some too! But I will do a separate blog post about that!!
