Q&A PROFILE Kim Tyrer- Albany Weekender

How do you like to spend your weekends?

I "like" to spend my weekends playing Netball and having a few vinos with the girls or curling up on the couch watching a good game of footy with some red wine and a cheese board. But when I am not doing that I am pretty much doing odd jobs around the winery I didn't finish during the working week. The joys of owning your own biz!

What's your most treasured possession?

My wedding rings. I would be devastated if I lost them or they were stolen because while insurance would replace them it would never be the same (unless of course I got an upgrade??).

What would you save first in a house fire?

My artworks- you couldn't replace them. And maybe my dad stamp collection which I have been doing some work on??

What was the last book you read?

Normally I would say I don't have time to read as I mainly read industry journals but I have recently read Tara Moss 'Assassin' as I have read the series so far. I like crime novels.

If there was one thing you could change about Australia, what would it be?

At the moment more regional development and more innovative development in Agriculture. I believe Agriculture is the backbone of this country and it is currently struggling with rising costs and falling prices making the business of it unsustainable. Please support Australia and buy Australian made products.

Who would you invite to dinner?

Normally I would say my husband- we never have enough time together alone.
But in keeping with the question- maybe Heston Blumenthal to cook one of those unusual feast he does. Billy Connelly (hilarious), Quentin Tarrantino ( eccentric creative genius), Tara Moss ( modern feminist writer), Pink (admire her individuality), Hugh Jackman ( the prefect man), Ricky Gervis ( wit), David Wirrpanda ( not only an ex eagles player but soon to be a great politician and aboriginal advocate). By the look of that group there would be lots of laughs, drinking and debating. My kind of dinner party!

What was your most embarrassing moment?

Being a student I got up early at 5am from Mt Barker to get to Uni in Perth at 9am for lecture. Spent all day at Uni. Went back to unit in Perth for a sleep because I was so tired. Got up around 6pm. No food in house so jump in the car to get some food. Instead of reversing I drove forward into the unit by accident. Whoops. It was very embarrassing ringing my parents and telling them. Made me look like a real blonde female driver!
