Wine Journalist Ch'ng Poh Tiong visits Galafrey Wines

Ch'ng Poh Tiong visited Galafrey Wines and the Great Southern region this weekend. Poh Tiong is the James Halliday of Asia!

Ch'ng Poh Tiong, Regional Chair for Middle East, Far East, and Asia, also judge on DWWA Argentina and Southeast Mediterranean panels in 2010
30 years in wine. Ch'ng is publisher of The Singapore Wine Review, and wine columnist for Singapore's largest circulation Chinese newspaper, the Lianhe Zaobao. In 2000, he published the world's first Guide to Bordeaux in Chinese, and is founder of the International Congress of Chinese Cuisine and Wine. Ch'ng is also publisher of www.chinesebordeauxguide.com, the world's first bilingual Chinese/English website on Bordeaux wine.

He loved our wines. We have a long relationship with Poh Tiong back when Dad was alive and we were exporting to Singapore. He had just started his Magazing the Wine Review. He loved our Pinot and rates it VERY highly. He also loved our Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. We talked, he gave us some great advice about our wines and we told him lots of stories about Galafrey and the region.

The line up of Rieslings we show him. 2012, 2010 and 2002.

John Gates, CEO of the Great Southern Wine Producers, Myself and Poh Tiong.

Then afterwards we did a massive Red Wine tasting with over 60 wines. It was a great opportunity to get some professional development for my palate, benchmarking to see how our range stacks up against others in the region and a great snap shot of the regions wines and were there are headed. Our Cab Sauv looked really good!! It was also great to talk wine with like minded souls.

and towards the end we open some really old wines from the pioneers of our Region. The Alkoomi Classic Red was particularly good!
