Radschool Magazine - In Memory Ian Tyrer. Galafrey Wines , Premium Wines Mount Barker WA

Radschool Association Magazine - Vol 34

thanks to Robin Hayes and the Radschool Magazine for this great little article about Ian Tyrer and RAAF

Robin Hayes got in touch, he says, Hi, Just been reading some back issues and saw a Slim Hurrellphoto in issue 25. One of the guys in the photo was Ian Tyrer who died of cancer in 2003. Ian a larger than life RadtechA with 76 Sqn, pulled the pin shortly after that photo was taken. Just recently while on a trip to Albany and while passing through Mt Barker, I stopped off to visit the Galafrey vineyard he established with his wife Lynda. He was one of the pioneers of wine making in the Great Southern District and now his wines are considered amongst the best in WA. The name Galafrey was stolen from the Dr Who series on TV and now the wine has become the official drink for the series. If any of Ian's old friends, and there were many, are passing through I would recommend a stopover and visit with Lynda and his daughter Kim and sample some truly awesome wines.

Here we see the enthusiasm on the progress in Winestate Magazine votes combined with the fresh language of young winemakers.

I like this natural, young nature of the speech, certainly thanks to Facebook, Digg and various blogs on www. Doch lesen Sie selbst: But read for yourself:

Galafrey New La De Da - Sparkling Wine, Premium Western Australian Wines, Mount Barker

alt

We thought it was time to make some more of our famous Sparkling Riesling after having our 1987 Sparkling Rielsing at Kim's Wedding. The wine was superb, reminding us of what a great style this is.

Made in the traditional champagnoise methode, it is a celebration of Riesling. With prefumed musk, talc and subtle aged characteristics of marmalade. The fine bead is complimented by elegant candied 'pink lady' apple flavours finishing with lingering dry finish.

So celebrate any special occasions with this fine wine. For more details click here
