Showing intense flavours of earth plums and violets mixed with the sweetness of Shiraz fruit. Rich ripe fruit, structured palate, and fine tannins. Great with paella or grilled lamb skewers.

92 POINTS - This wine is usually one of Galafrey's best buys. The sauvignon blanc comes from a vineyard on ancient gravelly loams, the semillon from a small vineyard in Boyup Brook. Both lots came from very low yielding vines producing less than a tonne per acre. The wine abounds with aromas and flavours seamlessly sewn together so that grass and herb merge with stone and tropical fruit. It should develop well over the next 2-3 years.

An Unoaked style Chardonnay with lovely melon and creamy peach driven , pleasant fresh fruit and persistence flavours, great length. The palate has a slight touch of creaminess. This integrates well to the overall flavour profile of the wine. The palate has good balance, although the youth of the wine is evident; the acid and fruit integrate nicely, it is fresh, vibrant and elegant.

So many citrus fruit and floral flavours followed by mouth filling sweetness. Ideal with Asian food, fruit and cheeses

The Jovial is a wine that pays homage to Ian Tyrer the founder of Galafrey Wines in 1977 and one of the great pioneers of the Mount Barker Wine Region. In 1999 Ray Jordan wrote in The West Australian about the first time he meet Ian Tyrer of Galafrey Wines. Ray describe Ian as '\"one of the wine industry's real characters but the jovial, brash exterior masks a man who is deadly serious about his wine.\" The Jovial is a wine like many of the wines in Galafrey range. It is Big, Bold and has lashings of character. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc it has powerful fruit on the nose and palate that shows chocolate mint, cassis and blackcurrants flavours with a firm structure that will see it live for years.

Normally $35 a bottle currently on special due to the delayed release of our 2009 Shiraz and selling out of the 2006 Shiraz. A great rich wine with value to boot.

Still drinking well this dark red-purple in colour. Black cherry, plum and some fleshy characters on the nose. Medium-ripe palate showing good fruit characters married to fine oak before nice long finish. A very nicely made shiraz showing the cooler spectrum characters. Fruit sourced from the Frankland River Region 50km north of Mount Barker, the characteristically cool climate of the district ensures slow ripening of the grapes, which also allows for the development of rich flavour and quality grape juice. Grown on ancient gravely loams in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, an area renowned for excellence in cool climate viticulture. We source this fruit to make a more approachable style of Shiraz at a price point which is different from our own Dry Grown Shiraz.

Drinking EXTREMELY well, this was Best in the West Winestate Magazine for 2009 this is a great wine. Currently held for Japan- unfortunately due to Japan's current economic climate is now available for you. Nigel and I crack a bottle the other night and it is fabulous!
