January 2016- wow- that went quick!

Well, that month went quick- even for us!

School holidays meant juggling kids with work. While serving customers at cellar door, Jack coloured the floor in the winery with chalk. At one stage there were a few kids in there playing as other customers had kids as well. Jack soon worked out pretty quickly customers with kids meant he could play with them. That social butterfly!

Grapes and Gallops Festival. Our annual festival which I chair and Nigel is head of operations is HUGE! A huge week of planning and working. With weather forecast of 20-40mm made us all very nervous but the rain held off until the next day, Yay! A great day with crowds of 2000+ and next year will be 10 years!!

Trails and bottling. Madly bottling before vinatge starts. On the agenda- 2014 Reserve Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, our limited edition 2013 Cabernet Franc and some Port.

Verison in the Vineyard- scary. Verison is when the grapes start to change colour and ripen up. Once verison starts vinatge is using 6 weeks away. Bit early this yeat but some much needed rain has slowed things down. Could be starting vintage a week early this year! But only time will tell. Vineyard loooking healthy and yields are looking up.

You know you have too many John Deere machines when people start to buy you John Deere teapots! Thanks to our friends, our vineyard manager is liking his mug and tea pot! great fun and in pride of place!
